Community Grants

Community Grants

Cwmaman Town Council may award grants to community organisations that can demonstrate a clear need for financial support and show how their work will benefit residents of Cwmaman.

Grants may support projects or activities that:

  • provide a service to the community;
  • enhance residents' quality of life;
  • improve the local environment; or
  • promote Cwmaman in a positive way.

The Council invites grant applications twice a year. The total grants budget is £5,000 per financial year, split into two rounds of £2,500 each. Each round's £2,500 is a shared pot divided between all successful applicants in that round, so awards will depend on how many applications are received — organisations should apply for a realistic amount rather than the full round total. Details of current application periods and closing dates will be published on this page.

Before applying, organisations should read the Council's Grant Awarding Policy carefully.

Grant Awarding Policy

Who can apply?

Applications may be made by non-profit or charitable organisations.

The Council will not normally award grants to:

  • individuals;
  • private or commercial organisations operated to make a profit or surplus;
  • projects or expenditure that have already taken place; or
  • national organisations or local groups that can obtain sufficient funding from a national parent organisation.

Only one application from each organisation will be considered in any financial year.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted using the Council's official online grant application form. All questions should be answered fully, and applicants should provide enough information — including all required supporting documents — for the Council to assess the application.

    How applications are decided

    Each application will be considered on its own merits. The Council has a limited grants budget and cannot guarantee that every eligible application will receive funding, or receive the full amount requested.

    All applicants will be contacted after the Council has made its decision.

    Successful applicants must use the grant only for the purpose approved by the Council. Evidence of expenditure may be requested, and any funding that remains unspent at the end of the financial year must be returned to the Council unless it has approved an alternative use in writing.
